NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit )


The NICU in the Unique Children’s Hospital is Level III Tertiary care unit.

It is designed to support the development of the newborns in uninterrupted fashion.

The unit has the capacity to comfortably care for 22 newborns at the same time.

The unit has catered to the tiny babies weighing as low as 780 grams successfully.

Developmentally supportive neonatal care is administered by the trained staff under the expert guidance of the Neonatologist and babies are monitored by the qualified doctors round the clock.

The unit is equipped to provide the advanced life support by conventional mechanical ventilators, high frequency ventilators, HFNC devices and CPAP machines.

The unit has been successfully taking care of congenital surgical problems like TO Fistulas and Diaphragmatic Hernias.

The management protocols are followed strictly to ensure adequate care and safety and to completely avoid the unnecessary interventions, investigations and drugs. (The unit has strict criteria for initiation of antibiotics).

Mothers are encouraged to Breast feed the babies at the earliest and also to provide KMC.

Post discharge babies are monitored in the High Risk Newborn Clinic for the meticulous monitoring of growth and development of the babies.
